As some of you may know, we have a prehistorically ancient chat room on this site. Its background is bright white, and it makes no sound effect for when someone speaks, So, I've taken the liberty of creating a Xat-powered Chat Room for us to talk it up in while Adrian tries to work on building a more suitable Chat Room for MMRPG.
This Chat Room has a crazy array of features: a Youtube player, a Doodle feature where you can draw, a private messaging feature [so that you can privately chat with others], and, yes, a volume setting, as well. After some testing, Adrian has OK'd it for public use in the MMRPG community. Yayz.
THERE ARE RULES THAT MUST BE FOLLOWED WHEN USING THIS CHAT:
#1. ALL MMRPG POSTING AND CHAT RULES APPLY HERE. Keep the cursing to an absolute minimum, and completely censor them--kids still roam these parts. Too much cursing, flaming or rule-breaking in general will force warnings, then Chat Bans, either by me or by MMRPG staffers.
#2. I AM NOT THE GUY IN CHARGE. Even though I created this Xat, there are AT LEAST 3 proven active Moderators on MMRPG [MegaBossMan, Spinstrike and Rhythm_BCA] who clearly know what they're doing and know a bad apple when they see one. I can help you navigate through the features of the Xat, itself, as well as explain what is and isn't allowed, but, if, for some reason, an MMRPG Moderator and/or Administrator has to order me to force an extended ban on you because you refuse to chat as if you have common sense, I *WILL* have to obey that order, ESPECIALLY if it's from Adrian or MegaBossMan.
#3. DO NOT DRAW OBSCENE GESTURES, WORDS OR IMAGES IN THE DOODLE FEATURE. When you draw in the Xat's Doodle feature, EVERYONE in the Xat's main room can see it. Fair warning, right now: You're instabanned from the Xat for *AT LEAST* 72 hours if *I* find you drawing anything rule-breaking or obscene. Your image will also be screened and sent to every active Moderator I know of on MMRPG; That's MegaBossMan, Spinstrike, Rhythm, and, yes, Adrian, as well. If MegaBossMan or *ESPECIALLY* Adrian sees it, well, you can consider yourself completely hosed. They [and I] have PERMABANNING powers in the Xat [I made sure of it], and they'll likely force an extended ban on you from MMRPG, itself.
#4. DO NOT FORCE YOUTUBE BROADCASTS ON EVERYONE. Not everyone in the Chat wants to watch--for example--My Little Pony videos. No. Just...NO. Abuse of the Xat's Youtube Broadcast feature will result in a warning, followed by a ban of at least an hour, followed by increasingly LONGER bans if it persists.
#5. INTENTIONAL FLOODING = AUTOMATIC INSTABAN. You don't get to speak gibberish every 1.5 seconds and erase everything that someone else wants to say. That's not gonna cut it in these parts. There's no warning for this; persistent and intentional flooding = an automatic ban of at least an hour [likely longer] and--possibly--the reporting and screening of your flood to the MMRPG staff if it persists.
#6. DO NOT HARASS OTHER MEMBERS. Harassing other members, either via the main open chat, or by using the Chat's Private Messaging feature to torment or harass other members is strictly prohibited. If a Member produces legitimate screenshots of you embarassing yourself by harassing a Member, you'll likely find yourself banned not only from the Xat, but from MMRPG, altogether.
#7. POLITICAL, SEXUALITY AND RELIGIOUS CONVERSATIONS/DEBATES ARE PROHIBITED. These are touchy topics that will no doubt start arguments and flames that don't need to be happening, really. What a person votes, who a person dates, and who they do and don't praise doesn't matter to me, and it certainly shouldn't matter to you. The banhammer shall come down for at least 24 hours to anyone that insists on talking about this, despite the warnings that a Mod/Admin keeps giving.
#8. DO NOT SPAM THINGS. [Thanks, MegaBossMan] Don't say the SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN. It just gets annoying. Don't link the SAME IMAGE OVER AND OVER AGAIN. It just gets annoying. Don't link the SAME YOUTUBE VIDEO OVER AND OVER AGAIN. It just.....you get it. Excessive or intentional spamming--PERIOD--is annoying, and it's not allowed. The average person might get a warning or 2 about it before they find themselves banned for a few hours because of their sheer disrespect and ignorance in ignoring both this AND Rule #5. Don't be that person.
#9. YOU MUST USE YOUR PROTOTYPE NAME OR CLEARLY ANNOUNCE WHO YOU ARE. When using the chat, please use your prototype name or something closely resembling it. Short forms and acronyms of your name are also acceptable. This is mostly a formality so we know who you are, and it helps build a better rapport with the other members if you're honest about who you are. If you really don't want to use your prototype name, you may use something else but it must not be offensive or infringe on the username of any other member. If you are going this route, it would be appreciated if you could at least announce who you really are when you first enter the chat so others can greet you accordingly. Thank you for your understanding.
#10. NO RULEBREAKING IMAGES [OR LINKS]. If you don't like any of the over 1,700 preset avatars that the Xat has, you can use your own custom image as your avatar.
First, click on your Xat name in the column on the right while in the Prototype Xat. You should see a large box with a number in it between 1 and 1,800. Click it, and type the url of the image you want as your avi in it. THE IMAGE MUST BE EITHER FROM PHOTOBUCKET OR TINYPIC; this is a Xat rule, not a Prototype rule.
If you do choose a custom image, or even if you're linking to images in the Xat, be sure to keep it clean and kid-friendly, OK? I don't have to explain what happens if you post a rulebreaking avatar, do I?
#11. ROLE PLAY IN MODERATION, PLEASE. [Thanks, MegaBossMan]
I know that this is the CASUAL Chat and all, but, if I'm honest, There's a time and a place to do that, and it's not always this Chat; Prototype has a whole RP section dedicated to that. No *immediate* penalties if this happens, but, if the chat is full of people discussing things that *aren't* RP, and 2 people suddenly break out in an RP mood, it CAN kill the chat.
If there's only 2 or 3 or 4 people, that's one thing, but, if there's more than 6, do them all a favor and please use the Private Chat feature to do your RPing. RP with your RPing partner that way, pleaseandthankyou. Either that or use the RP section.
If you're too, TOO disruptive with the RPing, of course, that'll be another story. Don't be in that story.

I'm sorry, but I had to remove the below rule and replace it with something else. I did not fully agree with it and I hope you will understand why I made this move.
#9. YOU MUST USE ONE OF THE TWO FOLLOWING NAME TEMPLATES: (effective 11/1/2014)
A. PrototypeName
or
B. XatName[PrototypeName]
Option A is to simply use your Prototype name; the name on your MMRPG Prototype file. Any changes you make to your official Prototype name in the Prototype website must also reflect on your Chat name, as well.
In my case, I'd be using MY Prototype name, ThatGhostNamedMikey.
Option B is to use your Xat name, which can be almost whatever you wish, with your official Prototype name right next to it in brackets or parentheses for clear identification and verification purposes.
Needless to say, you can't use any Xat Names that are offensive, religious or are curse words, and, like with option A, any changes you make to your official Prototype name on the Prototype site will need to reflect in the Prototype Name in the Xat, as well; it's very important that we chat staffers know who everybody is.
In my case, I could use any of the following examples:
Mikey[ThatGhostNamedMikey]
TheMikester[ThatGhostNamedMikey]
ThatGuy[ThatGhostNamedMikey]
Anonymous[ThatGhostNamedMikey]
To change your name, simply double click on your Xat Name in the column on the right side of the Xat box.
Failure to follow either of these templates as your Xat name [after 11/1/14] may result in your being unable to speak in the Xat unless and until you do so.

@Adrian Marceau : Hm... Well that just added some spice into it. However, I'd like to have a saying in this. Don't really have to read it, though. How are guests supposed to talk? I mean... The chat was made to have guests become members. Maybe this can work through PM, located on where you click a user's name and click on private chat. Don't click on Private Message, though, because it's just a message for just one person, in which is pointless because of the Private Chat. Don't know why the maker of Xat put it there, it's just there.

@Adrian Marceau : No, I DON'T understand. At some point, Adrian, simply popping in and removing well-meaning, well-thought-out and well-working rules with absolutely no viable explanation and then popping right back out stops making sense. We're way past that now.
The whole reason for me creating the Xat to begin with is because it's possible to have better safeguards in place than in the Legacy Chat; Along with the sound, there's also clear identification between who's a Chat Guest [green], who's a Chat Member [blue], who's a Chat Moderator [white] and who's a Chat Administrator [orange]. It also rembers the ranks of all those who become a member of it, too. There's also the features, such as the sound setting, the YT player and the doodles.
That said, there WILL be those that are out to be [sarcasm]geniuses[/sarcasm] and start trouble for no reason, what with your trolls and your bots and your hackers and just bad, rotten apples in general. If I end up making rules that allow Chat staffers to easily identify who is a Prototype Member and who is not, It is for the protection of the chat. It doesn't matter who likes it and who doesn't; would you rather have a couple of annoying rules regarding chat names, or do you wanna try to figure out whether every new user is really a Prototype member or just someone who starts trouble?
You, Adrian, are also too busy with the Prototype and with life in general to be on the Xat [or on the Legacy, for that matter] anywhere near often enough to truly understand how to keep the peace on a reasonable and well-meaning basis on a chat as busy as the Xat [or on a site as busy as Prototype, really], anyhow. If I'm supposed to accept completely insane rule changes like this, the very LEAST you can do is explain why. I don't wrack my brain trying to keep these chats safe for my health.

@Evil Man : Thanks for bringing this to my attention. That would fall under the category of "Mike has to go do something about that since he created the chat".
As of this post, though, Adrian hasn't publicized the Xat and Legacy Chats for guests, yet [thankfully], and besides, it's not exactly the safest route to go. I've been--AGAIN--figuring out some kind of verification and/or security measure to separate the Guests from the Members; regardless of Adrian's intent, purpose, meaning or vision, not ALL Guests will be good apples.This matter has been resolved.-MBM

@ThatGhostNamedMike : I'm honestly getting really tired of dealing with this, and your attitude is not appreciated. Whether or not you agree with every single rule I make or don't make, the fact of the matter is that I've spent the last 8 years of my life programming this game and its community from scratch and I think I deserve a little bit of respect from of you. You created a chat room. You didn't program it, you simply set it up. Yes it's more technologically advanced than the IRC-based chat we had before and better in several ways, but that doesn't automatically make you some kind of super-mod or give you the right to talk to me like this. You pushed for a new chat when I said no, you went behind my back and created one anyway, and then when I was nice enough to approve the chat and add it on the website, you started letting that small bit of power go to your head. Now you're publicly calling me out on my website and aggressively questioning my authority? I've always been open to discussion and democracy, but this is just ridiculous.
Several months ago you said the following: I just wanna make sure I don't make any Mods *pissed off*. BIG difference. Well guess what? I'm one of those mods - THE mod - and you're really starting to get on my nerves. I did like you at first, but now I'm not so sure anymore.
I think you're being overzealous with the chat rules and your position and you really need to cool down. Is it really so bad if someone who isn't a member joins the chat? If they're acting up, you can ban them or kick them. If they're not acting up you can leave them alone. What does someone's username have to do with their behavior? If you can't verify who someone is, simply don't make them a mod. It's not rocket science. It's getting to the point where I don't even want a chat anymore, as this is been more of a headache than any server issues or bugs in the game. You've single-handedly sucked all the fun out of working on this game and made me question my motivation for completing the update. How can I when every time I visit the website or check my email I have to read stuff like this?
For everyone else, PLEASE chime in. I need to know if I'm just being crazy or if Mikey really is causing as many problems in the community as my inbox suggests. Either way, don't expect to see me around much anymore and have fun with whatever chat rules you all come up with. This is not what I signed up for and I need a break more than ever now. @Adrian Marceau : (Cussing isnt allowed)... i know which words are cuss words, like f***, S***, C*** Cu** and more... There are kids like me on here, (im 10 and im more mature then a normal 10 year old, =P), and though your the head leader of the game i still dont think you should be cussing.
@MetaKirbSter : Two things. First, I don't really think p*** is a swear word but I edited my response anyway. I was just quoting something Mikey said. And two, if you're only 10 years old you're not supposed to be here. The login and registration pages both clearly state that you need to be at least 13 years of age to join and the login form even forces you to confirm your date of birth before you can continue. This means that you obviously lied about your birth date. The ONLY way someone under 13 would be allowed to join is if they had their parent complete the COPPA form and send it to me, of which I have received a total of zero. I could get in legal trouble for not banning you, so please read the registration page again and have your parent send me the completed form. Thank you.

I'd like to take Adrian's side on this case (sorry Mike!). I'm sorry, but going up against a rule on a chat room that has been edited slightly is somewhat ridiculous in that matter. You should respect Adrian as he IS the creator of the game, and learning the fact that the chat room was made pretty much illegally makes me want to use the old chat room again. Also, the way that you spoke to Adrian like that was somewhat... rude to say the least. If you disagree with Adrian, then you might want to say it in a more respectful way. It almost seemed like you were yelling at the top of your lungs. And yes, Adrian created the community AND game from scratch, so like he said, there should be at least a miniscule amount of respect for him. Just remember that Adrian can delete your account and almost all traces of you with a click of a button. Even with helping MegaBossMan with the information "leak," I've lost a lot of respect for you.

@Retro Gengar and uraccountcarved : I completely forgot to update this matter, actually. I understand your attitudes, fellows, but, it should be known that Adrian himself finally showed up in the Xat last night, and a MASSIVELY HELPFUL discussion between he, MegaBossMan and myself took place.
It turns out that, once I explained that my trying to reach him quietly and through the recommended channels about his ideas of open chats always ended up being massive failures [he'd either ignore the message completely, or read a message only to ignore entire fifths and fourths of it], Adrian could actually completely understand my frustrations...to a point.
Every problem that ended up occurring with Chat rules required me to contact him directly, because he was so extremely slow to reach. HE also admitted, funnily enough, that he didn't exactly handle the CHAOS situation as well as he could've.
By the same token, both he and MegaBossMan made it clear that I came off about it preeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetty bad. Pretty STUPID, actually. Even though I technically broke no site rules during my frustration, the way I showed it was still uncalled for, and after a lengthy discussion, all 3 of us decided that *I* could've ALSO handled the situation better, too.
Adrian and I have already hugged it out and thrown massive apologies at each other [and took it like men]. He's also planning to give MegaBossMan the moderation tools he truly needs to be the head honcho in charge while Adrian's away from here on, He's made Boss and I admins of Prototype's FB account so that we can use *IT* to attract more newbies [so that Adrian doesn't have to publicize the chats, YET], Adrian himself has promised to try to be in the Xat a little more often, and I had to promise that, for the time being at least, I just have to step back, stop worrying so much and hope for that extra security measures WON'T be needed for the Legacy and Xat chats in the future.
Sorry for being so slow with this fellas. Oh, and Account? Again, totally understand where you come from, but, language, pleaseandthankyou...kids and stuff. Censor the whole word, if you must say things like that. :P

(Mikey, you're cool for now, :P), At 6:00 (maybe 6:30), i want some ofd you to come so we can do MINECRAFT TALK! (see what i did there?) so :P, i love minecraft now.
@ThatGuyNamedMikey : ...what are you, a lawyer? Also, yeah. But it's ultimately up to Adrian as what he's going to do with the game and its suggestions that are received. Perhaps he didn't skip any forth of it, but just never responded or made not of that specific part, either by accident, or he didn't like it.
