The current version of the prototype has many bugs, as will many version in the future. This is inevitable, all we can do is fix them as they come up and then move on.

Some bugs and issues, however, do not want us to move on. Unfortunately there are some quirks with the prototype that I have not been able to fix yet and unfortunately get reported a lot. I would like to list the most common ones here so that you know you are not alone in your struggles and we are aware of the issue.

Items will be taken off this list when/if they ever get fixed, but until then you just have to deal with 'em. Let's get started!



* This game only works in modern, updated browsers like Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. Opera is iffy and Internet Explorer is just a "no". If you use one of the less-than-desirable browsers and it doesn't work properly you're on your own. Browsers are free, downloads are small, and dealing with Microsoft's backward system is not on my list of priorities. Sorry. :|

* Even though the games works fairly well in modern browsers, it can still lag sometimes and has a really nasty crashing bug its tab goes inactive during a battle. If the transitions are too choppy you should lower your message speed in the "Options" menu, and if you need to switch tabs click the little pause button at the top of the battle window before you do (or wait until you're back at the main menu again). You've been warned.

* Every single turn your actions are sent back to the server and the results sent back to you after being calculated. If your browser session somehow expires while you're in the middle of a battle (maybe you have aggressive cookie settings, maybe you left the battle idle for way too long, etc.) the entire battle will be ruined and you'll have to start over. Hundreds of robots will appear on-screen in a glitched out manner and you will not be able to do anything constructive so don't try. Reload the prototype and see if you need to log in again.

* Slightly related to above issue, sometimes there will be a fatal error on the server and the battle will be unable to continue causing an endless "Loading..." screen. After a set amount of time, an alert will appear asking you if you want to resend your last action, but most of the time it will not work and the battle may need to be restarted entirely. This is obviously a game-breaking bug that should be fixed, but at the moment it's incredibly hard to diagnose. At the very least, any experience points earned in battle before the bug occurs will NOT be lost.


I know this issues are really annoying and can make your throw the mouse across the room, but please understand that I will fix them as soon as I am capable and I feeeeeeeel your pain. Thank you for baring with me and these bugs and thank you soooo much for playing the prototype! :D

Playing through Prototype again for the heck of it, came across a peculiar bug. My Dr. Light used an Energy Pellet meant for my Time Man, yet the Ice Man on the opposing team got the energy pellet instead.
That wasn't meant for you, silly Ice Man!

@MegaBossMan : I noticed as well that bug using Weapon Tank it goes to opponent not to player itself quite weird

Let me give you the takeaway from my post before you have to read it...

DON'T SCREW WITH STAT BOOST ABILITIES

Still here? Good, now let me tell you a story. With my not fully stat-boosted Time Man, I go into Final Destination III, use Attack Boost five or six times, and destroy all the opposing robots with Flash Stopper. I go back into my robot editor and... Time Man is fully reset. He is back to level one and has base stats.

I had a similar experience I already reported in the Chat that I might as well put here. It happened to me after i used a Super Capsule on Hard Man on Bonus Field 2. I had Mega Man as the active robot and Oil Man, Hard Man, and Heat Man benched. The Super Capsule seemed to work fine, but I forgot to use more (I had 19 left to spare) so that was the only stat booster I used. After the battle, I went to Final Destination III and noticed that Oil Man and Mega Man had been reset to Lvl 1 along with their stats. EDIT: Sorry, the previous image had horrid quality.



Luckily, all their abilities were intact, but the effect seems to be permanent.

Thanks for the post and screenshots. I looked into this the moment I saw it and chat and fixed what I believe was the problem. The same thing happened to my Proto Man so I tested the changes by raising him back up a few levels with various stat boost items and all appears to be okay. Once again I apologize for the trouble and lost efforts... at least leveling up and stat boosting isn't as much of a pain now... right? :S

Despite there being new comments, it doesn't want to load them.
This bug has been happening to me for a while now, and its pretty annoying, since there is in fact a new post, yet it just doesn't want it to work. Ugh, hope this can be fixed soon.

I don't have a screenshot of it, but I've also experienced what Ender reported. Basically, when you click on "View Unread Posts" (or something along those lines), the page will display nothing except "- no new comments -" at the bottom. Also, the notification for a new post in that category will remain until you manually find and click the thread.

tl;dr the Unread Posts button is borken.

I had sold the Reflection Mill star and played it again with Dr. Light to get the star back and some boosted BP. The round went perfectly; I had originally had Heat Man as my active robot with Hard, Ring, Mega, and Oil on the bench. I switched to Mega the first turn and Gemini Laser to kill most the robots, then finished of the enemy Heat Man with Mega Slide. However, on the second turn, I decided to use a Super Capsule on Oil Man to up his stats for the lulz. After the mission ended, I went back and noticed something spooky:


Mega and Oil, the robots that had originally been reset to Lvl 1 (I had trained them back to 100 and maxed out Megaman's Def and Speed with Super capsules) had just vanished. They're not a huge loss to me personally, but I'm gonna take a break from the Prototype until this can get fixed. I just really hope this doesn't become an issue for the community.

Three posts in a row? I feel unfortunate...

I was playing on the Bonus Field and found a couple of interesting things concerning Super Arm. Not sure if these were intended, but...
1.) Used Super Arm as Hard Man with a secondary type of Explode. As soon as the boulder was created, it was "lost", so my defense went up and right back down. I can understand how this makes sense, though; Explode keep the boulder from staying together. It would be nice for the description of the ability to at least hint about different attributes of the ability depending on the second type, though.
2.) These two were done as Megaman, which may be the crux of the issue. The first boulder I made was Impact/Copy, and two things happened because of this:
  2a.) It cost 4 WE instead of 8 WE. This makes sense and I can live with that.
  2b.) It didn't give me any defense. It wasn't like the Explode situation where it was created and went away. It simply didn't give me any defense. At first I thought maybe this was an intended drawback for only costing 4 WE, but...
3.) The second boulder I made was Impact/Shadow, and as usual it cost 8 WE with Megaman. It still didn't give me defense, though. This one I managed to take a screenshot of and decided to put it here.
Was it intended that Megaman get no defense from Super Arm? Because if so, I'm definitely removing that from him.

@TheDoc : Doc, I don't know what to say maybe is a bug made by Sever lag or something else happened, and Hard man disappearing from the field is a bit unknown for me..

Most likely I'm here to report a bug issue apparently when I grind a good amount of bp I dissent calculate the correct beep points and the one I collected in the field stage is really weird so hopefully you guys can see what is causing the bug to pop up

I'm sure everyone is aware of the current "Weapons Merge" update. Adrian just talked about it in the chat earlier. But I ran into a slight problem... Except it is not a SLIGHT problem, it's a BIG one.
When I got on to check it out, I tried to give some of my Robots new weapons... But they are all GONE. Oddly enough, the only weapon that survived is Bubble Bomb. Not even BUSTER SHOT is available. And so far, I'm the only one who went through this, and sadly, I can't do screenshots, but HOPEFULLY it won't matter, and HOPEFULLY Adrian or someone fixes this mess.

Now that were on the topic of bugs, i might as well talk about one that happened some time ago @DaCrashBomber your going to love this one

So, i was on my way to complete the Dr.Wily stage on chapter four,right?So, brought some robots i felt could win easily.so when the time came when i sent out my accidantly-op-protoman-lvl90- and use Proto Strike repeatedly until i srcapped Crash Man. and,when i scrapped him,i got a sign that said,Crash Man can now be used in battle.Guess what?I ALREADY HAD CRASH MAN!

It's kinda like the im not you glitch

@ThatOneEnderMan : I've encountered the bug too but I'm having difficulty reproducing it on purpose locally. Once I do and find a fix I will uploaded it. In the mean time, you'll have to click the "New" button on the updated thread itself as a compromise. Sorry about that.

@TheDoc : You seem to have had the worst luck during this update and I apologize for that. I believe I've solved all your critical problems but if there's anything else you need me to fix or redo for you through admin magic please let me know. Regarding the Super Arm bugs, you should know that the mechanics have been changed. Instead of manipulating the user's stats directly, Super Arm now acts more like Proto Shield and simply blocks a percentage of damage. This is a more reliable and consistent way, but I can understand how it might be jarring at first.

@MaverickRisingGSX : I'm not sure I understand what you're saying, could you maybe explain it in a different way? I'm so sorry. :S

@Beta Man : I fixed your problem in the chat yesterday. Apologies again and thanks for being a good sport.

@CrimsonBomb : That is a very unusual bug. I'm wondering if any of these bugs are caused when people are still logged in while I'm updating and then their old session data isn't replaced with the new stuff like it should be. Gotta find a better way to force logout then just sticking a red warning message on the website. :|

Thanks to everyone for your bug testing and patience. I know these updates aren't terribly exciting but the more small stuff I do now the easier it will be to do bigger stuff later. At the absolute least, we have another new robot to look forward to for a few more Sundays. :)

@Adrian Marceau : my computer was have a lot of old files in it so that caused a huge amount of lag to be in my internet connection,everything knows works smooth,Sorry for the bother

@Adrian Marceau : After a little bit of messing around with the bug I mentioned, it seems happen more on chrome than on firefox. Don't know about other browsers, but the bug isn't too much of a issue anyways, so its alright if you can't fix it.

I've noticed that Attack Capsules use 1 WE to use that isn't replenished when used on a benched robot (it is replenished if used on the active robot). This is not the case with the other 3 capsules. Have not tried it with the pellets. Is this deliberate?
